kay has had a passion for languages since she was a small child. After moving to Japan with her family at just ten months old, kay spent the first 5 years of her life listening to a mix of English and Japanese. Upon returning to the U.S., her family settled in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area (DMV) where she was surrounded by a myriad of languages and cultures.
At the College of William & Mary (Virginia, USA), kay received training in linguistic pedagogy and taught university level Spanish and Italian. In La Plata, Argentina, she taught English to students ranging from five-year-olds to corporate professionals seeking to expand their business opportunities.
In the international affairs space, kay was a career member of the U.S. Foreign Service as a Public Diplomacy Officer for almost a decade. In this role, Kay communicated and carried out U.S. foreign policy in English, Spanish and Portuguese through live media interviews, radio segments, and as a host for events at
U.S. Consulates and Embassies in Mexico, Cuba, and the United Kingdom. Having also worked as a social media coordinator at the Embassy of Spain in Washington, D.C., and as a translator at the Library of Congress and the Spanish Ministry of Culture, kay knows how governments and bureaucracy work, both at the domestic and international levels.
She is known for her dynamic personality, engaging interaction with the crowd, and ability to quickly switch between languages at the drop of a dime.
